Over the past 10 years, drones, high-resolution cameras and billions of mobile phones have documented the remotest and most spectacular parts of the world in brilliant detail. Before you see the Empire State Building in real life, for example, you can marvel at it from thousands of perfectly staged perspectives on YouTube and Co. Expectations are growing immeasurably. Reality sometimes has a hard time fulfilling these expectations. Or who can float around the Statue of Liberty like a drone during the most beautiful sunset of the year?<\/p>\n

This benefits us in Wunderland. Whoever thinks of model railways in the traditional way is more likely to expect a model building enthusiast working on his own train set at home in the basement. We can surprise our guests on site and this has become very rare. It was the same with Gerrit, Freddy, Gerd and me when Iguaz\u00fa appeared in front of us in the boat. No camera in the world is able to capture this gigantic scene.<\/p>\n

The incredible force of nature at the waterfalls cannot be captured in a photo.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

On almost three kilometres, masses of water make their way through thousands of paths in the middle of the rainforest, only to swoop down hundreds of gorges in deafening noise. Surrounded by rainbows and circling cordillera eagles, you are almost powerless against this miracle of creation.<\/p>\n

At that moment it became clear to all of us what we wanted to create with the South American section: Europe has a lot of civilization and hardly any nature. South America is exactly the opposite. Impressive nature with a little civilization. A place where you feel the power of nature and where you still\u00a0can dream.<\/p>\n

We will know in two years whether we will succeed in depicting this in our model. Rainforest, Iguaz\u00fa with real water or the Perito Moreno with real ice is in any case already firmly planned in our heads.<\/p>\n
